Intensive exchange and education platform was created in the federal state of Brandenburg during the congress “Academy Days” for educators to set the focus on the focal points in learning through sport and children’s world in general.

In cooperation with the TSV Falkensee gymnastics club over 50 workshops, discussion forums and a diverse workshop programme for the qualification of specialists and educators in sport were organised. Moreover, this congress was supported by celebrities. In particular, Mr. Ronald Rauhe, German canoeist and Olympic champion, acted as patron of the event. The workshops were also attended by top-class athletes as Mr. Harald Schmid, multiple Olympic medal winner and ambassador of “Making children strong” i.e. a campaign of the Federal Centre for Health Education. He spoke on topics related to strengthening self-competence and addiction prevention in sport.

New scientific findings were presented by Dr. Christian Andrä from the University of Leipzig. Workshops conducted by Mr. Andrä target the learning through sport practices in day-care centres, primary and secondary schools. As well he presented activating methods for self-organised learning. Further ideas for the implementation of learning through sport in kindergartens and day-care centres were presented by Ms. Franziska Reinhardt, Education Manager of the Sports Youth Brandenburg.

The main aim of this congress was to look for best practice examples of learning through sport, which would be further presented and disseminated in the framework of the project “SPORT.YOUTH.INCLUSION”. There was a call till May 2020 for proposals in Brandenburg and Germany to invite interested parties to participate in this project and share their best practice examples. After the selection of the participants for the upcoming international tool-fair meeting, which will be held in September 2020 in Brandenburg, will be organized a preparatory meeting. The results and best practice examples for learning through sport will be published on this homepage afterwards.
